Rachel & Arlond
Ceremony at Vander Veer and reception at Knights Of Columbus in Davenport.

The day started out a little on the gloomy side. The ceremony was to be held at Vander Veer but due to the stormy weather, it was moved to the Knights Of Columbus in Davenport. Not NEARLY as beautiful as Vander Veer but dry none the less.

BUT WAIT! Look, the rain has stopped! 45 minutes before the ceremony, the rain stopped and the sun poked through the clouds. Rachel was thrilled and the ceremony was moved BACK to Vander Veer.

It actually got so hot and humid so quickly, that you could hardly tell it even rained. Everything was dry as could be for the ceremony.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game!

My wife and I spent Friday afternoon in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field where the Chicago Cubs hosted the Pittsburg Pirates.
We parked at Midway airport to not have to battle the traffic and hopped on the “L”. We rode the red line to Roosevelt and then the orange line to Addison. The weather was perfect for baseball, sunny and 70 degrees.
Starting pitcher was Sean Gallagher with Bob Howry as relief and Kerry Wood closed the deal in the 9th. Lead off batter Alfonso Soriano nailed a solo home run on the first pitch for a Cub early lead. Big “Z”, Carlos Zambrano, pinched hit in the 5th but grounded out.
I spent most of the trip home chanting “Fooook-A-Doe-May” over and over again, thus driving my wife crazy. Not that I’m a huge fan of Kosuke Fukudome but it is fun to chant during and immediately following a Cubs game. I mean come on, what else are you going to do in a car for three hours???
Final score: Cubs 7 and Pirates 4
GO CUBS!

Happy Birthday Donna!

Last week seemed to be a popular week for birthdays!
Donna recently celebrated her _ _th birthday at Atlante Trattoria in the District of Rock Island. Finger foods, wine and other refreshments were served followed by a delicious dinner and gelato for dessert. This was my first visit to Atlante Trattoria and my first gelato experience and I must say I loved them both. After dinner, the DJ really got the party going with some great tunes and some karaoke. It was a great way to spend an evening and everyone had a lot of fun!
Happy Birthday Donna!
Happy Mothers Day!

I hope all you mom’s out there had a nice mothers day!
I’d like to send a happy mothers day to three special ladies in my life, my mother Marcia (not pictured), my wife Paula and my mother in law Carole.
Happy Birthday Logan!

My youngest son Logan celebrated his 4th birthday recently. We had a big party for him with all his brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends there. Our back yard was pretty full! He got to open A LOT of presents and everyone had a good time. I think the present of the year award would have to go to grandma and grandpa for getting him a swing set for the back yard. This thing has it ALL! Swings, a slide, a hanging swing and even a climbing wall. Some assembly required (cough cough)
Flood 2008

Ahhhhhh, spring has FINALLY sprung in the Quad Cities. The trees are budding, the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, the air is warming………..I think you get the picture.
Spring in the QCA usually brings one extra element to this frenzy, FLOODING. Living along the Mississippi river and close to many others like the Rock and Wapsi rivers, one quickly gets used to spring time flooding. Soon the water will recede and leave behind a nice big mess to be cleaned up. Until then, it’s a waiting game and photo opportunity.
